Baby Bottle Bonanza!

hi there.

We got some great news regarding our adoption last week. And we kinda want to throw a party.

But, since we still have some funds to save and raise, we’re postponing the par-tay and celebrating by digging for change. Our couch, junk drawer, washing machine and the bottom of my purse have all made surprisingly fabulous contributions!

If you’d like to do some change-diving yourself, we’d love to bring a baby bottle to you for your family to fill.

So far, this fundraiser has been a big hit with the little ones. Who knew finding and adding change could be so entertaining?! It has also started some very sweet conversations regarding adoption…

“This is for Chris and Erin. Put the change in there.”

“Why?”

“So they can adopt a baby.”

“Why?”

“Because they want to be a mommy and daddy and some babies need a mommy and daddy.”

“Why?”

You see where this is going.

If you’re interested in getting a baby bottle, contact us using the info below or leave a comment (with your email address).

Who Won the Just Love Coffee Membership?

We and our friends, Elora and Russell recently ran a little contest for a 1 year membership to Just Love Coffee’s Coffee Club to raise money for our adoption processes. The last five days, Chris Michael Photo through in an incentive for a free photo shoot. Thank you all, so much, for participating. We’re so glad that organizations like Just Love Coffee exist. Not only do they offer us an opportunity to talk about adoption but they also sell a great product! Their coffee is dang good and it’s fair-trade.

Free Coffee + Good Photography + Adoption = [so much awesomeness I can't be normal]

We’re currently running a coffee lover’s give-away where one lucky winner will get free coffee delivered every month for a year.

Just to recap, my friends Elora and Russell have an online storefront with Just Love Coffee and so do Chris and I. Every time someone buys a bag of coffee from us, we get $5 for our adoption costs. So the four of us put our heads together and decided to give away a Just Love Coffee Club Membership for a year to one lucky person who buys from BOTH of our stores by February 15th at midnight.

Russell offered a bit of an incentive last week when he offered a chef-prepared meal as a little mid-give-away-surprise (Thanks Russell!). My sweet friend, Emily Parks was the lucky winner! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t crossing my fingers that Elora would draw her name; She has been such a great supporter and encouragement for us.

Well, it’s time for another mid-give-away-please-buy-some-coffee-surprise! We’re giving away a photo session in addition to the Coffee Membership! Everyone who purchases coffee from BOTH Elora & Russell’s online store AND our online store during the last five days of this contest (February 10th-15th), will also be entered to win a photo session from Chris Michael Photo.

I know I’m bias because I’m married to the resident photographer and have poured my own blood, sweat and tears into this business- but I think my hub has pretty mad skills. Oh also, I think your life would be better if you had some incredonculously gorgeous photos of your family on the wall. And yes, I just made up a word. It was necessary to get my point across.

Just sayin’.

See? Awesome.

So, what if you’ve purchased coffee already but really want in on this deal? Well, if you have purchased coffee from us since mid-January- we will add your name to “the bucket” again for each of the following that you do (and each time you do it):

1. Email the details of this contest to your friends (cc: me erin.beth.reich (at) gmail (dot) com) and ask them to buy coffee and subscribe to our blog

2. Re-blog this post or write your own blog post about the coffee-for-a-year give-away and Chris Michael Photo

3. Share it on Facebook (post this to your wall, send a Facebook message to friends, update your status) and ask your FB friends to join in

So, if you were really hard core about it, you could potentially be entered into this contest dozens of times. Cheers! (pretend we’re clinking our warm coffee mugs together) to winning cool stuff and helping people adopt babies!

Remember to leave a comment below letting us know when you do any of the items listed above. Have fun!

Coffee For A Whole Year. This is Happening.

Sounds awesome, right? Well, what if I told you that a fellow adoptive mama and I are going to give you the chance to win just that; coffee for a whole year.

I know, I know. It sounds too good to be true.

I met Elora on twitter. I remember my mom asking me to “be careful making friends online” when I told her that we were meeting up with Russ & Elora for drinks. I think at one point we even joked around about moving in together as long as they followed my ONE rule- “keep your paws off my hummus”. They both laughed (at me- not with me) because Russell is a chef and makes amazing hummus, from scratch with two hands tied behind his back.

(By the way, if you really want to give your mom a heart attack, tell her you’re thinking of moving in with someone you met online)

Now, two years later, Russ and Elora experiencing the often excruciating {but celebrated} process of adoption along with us.

And we have a brilliant plan to get you guys involved.

As you know, Chris and I have a coffee shop through Just Love Coffee Roasters. For every bag purchased, we receive five dollars.

Russell and Elora have a coffee shop as well.

Here’s our plan: through FEBRUARY 15, anyone who buys coffee from both our shops will be entered to win a YEAR LONG SUPPLY of coffee.

If you enter and win, every month, you’ll receive a bag of your choice – we love the Rwandan blend at our house- and you won’t have to pay a cent.

WHAT? Did that just happen?! Yes. Yes, it did.

So here’s the lowdown -

1. Go to both our shops and buy at least one bag of coffee from each.{Reichman Coffee Shop, Ramirez Coffee Shop}

2. Share the contest with anyone and everyone you know because you love us.
3. We’ll keep track of names and the week of February 15 announce the winner of the contest.

Pretty simple. As always, let us know if you have any questions.

Good luck!

Oh, and if you want to stay up to date on how many people are entered and how much you help us raise, join our facebook event.

Adoption Christmas Giveaway WINNER

Well, friends! Thanks for playing. We do have a winner!

JAMIE IVEY is our winner! She’s been the local give-away queen lately. With all her give-away-juju floating around the blogsphere, I’m not surprised that her name was drawn!  Who knew there could be so much excitement about soap, huh? But, we are ladies. We like pretty things that smell good. That’s just how God made us and so we might as well all embrace it.

If you ordered anything from BeSem, please come back and let us know how you like your products.

Also, you can read more about the Lawhon Family (founders of BeSem) here and read about the orphan care they donate 10% of their profits towards here.

If you are adopting and want to host your own fundraiser contact Wendy at besemnaturalscents@mac.com.

I’m not sure if I’ve said “thank you” more at any other time in my life as I have in the last year. If we’re facebook friends, you’ve probably heard it a ten times in the last two weeks. Give aways are fun and soap smells good, but the bottom line is- you are helping us afford our adoption process. The process that is going to give a baby a forever home and complete the call that God placed on our life in 2010. You’re also a great encouragement to me. There have been days, especially lately, that I’ve been back to struggling with what kind of parent I might be. I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself and have ended several days in the last few weeks feeling beaten up and completely discouraged. But you’re involvement, even in the small things like this, has been really good for my heart. Thank you friends.
