About US

We both grew up in Texas, 300 miles apart. We met at an information meeting for a mission trip to Ukraine in October of 2002 where one of us was immediately smitten with the other. We spent a couple of months awkwardly chit-chatting in passing. After the fifteen hour plane ride to Ukraine in December, we didn’t want to spend any time apart. So we didn’t.

A few weeks after being back in the United States we began planning our wedding. Our first couple of years of marriage, consisted of all nighters in college libraries, one Monday thru Friday desk job, late night car-hopping at Sonic or waiting tables, another trip to Ukraine, an ironing board that doubled as a coffee table, an awesome apartment view, a college graduation, two brand new puppies, and our first (and last) “fixer-upper”.

Chris has degrees in History and Photojournalism from the University of Texas at Austin where he was on staff with The Daily Texan. In 2006 Chris started his photography business. Since then, he has managed Chris Michael Photo photographing weddings, families, models, charity events, and even school photos in Africa.

I’ve volunteered some with local and international anti-human trafficking efforts and am interested in social justice issues. Some things that make me pretty dad-gum happy are reading, writing, music, being outdoors, Chris, and the idea of being a momma.

When we’re not working we do love to play! We are looking forward to doing our favorite things; traveling, playing dominos, camping, watching movies, and road trips together, until we have matching walkers!
